The Training Course “Embedding Community Based Learning In STEM Education”, November 2019

“Embedding Community Based Learning in STEM Education”, an additional training course in 2019, held on November 29 – December 1 by SL-STEAM Group at the University of Science – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City under the sponsorship of Irish Aid. More than 140 lecturers and teachers from Primary, Secondary, High Schools, Colleges, Universities, and STEM Education Centers throughout the country. Representing the University of Science, Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Man, Head of Science and Technology Department gave an opening speech and welcomed all the teachers to the course. MA. Phan Nguyen Ai Nhi, Head of Vietnam and Ireland co-operation project and SL-STEAM Group were responsible for the content of the training.

Three days of the training were extremely exciting with useful activities about Service Learning (SL), STEM, SL-STEM including basic concepts, experiments and projects which consist of knowledge and skills related to the curriculum from high school level to university. Especially, it created opportunities for participants to share their teaching experiences and support each other integrating SL-STEM into the lessons better and better.

The training ended with the closing ceremony and awarding certificates to the participants. The ceremony also had the participation of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special High School, a community unit. Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Man made closing remarks and sent sincere thanks to the management of the University of Science, Dublin City University (Ireland), Irish Aid, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special High School and especially enthusiastic participation of over 140 lecturers and teachers.
