From 11th to 26th November, the VNUHCM-University of Science hosted the 14th Scientific Conference, providing a dynamic interdisciplinary academic platform for scientists from both Viet Nam and abroad, as well as students. The event marked the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM).
During the conference on the afternoon of 11th November, Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, Vice President of the University of Science, emphasised that the Scientific Conference had been a long-standing tradition for nearly 30 years. He highlighted its role as a key intellectual forum, showcasing the practical applications of science in everyday life.
The 14th Scientific Conference covered a broad range of topics across various fields, including Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Environmental Science, Materials Science, Oceanography, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Technology, Educational Technology, Electronics and Telecommunications, Nuclear Physics, Medical Physics, Educational Science, and Integrated Science.
The event brought together 828 scientific papers presented across 7 subcommittees and 6 international conferences, featuring 548 speakers from both domestic and international institutions. Selected papers were published in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. Additionally, three international events were held before and after the main conference series, contributing over 260 papers and bringing the total number of presentations to more than 1,000.
Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết stated, “This is the 14th time the conference has been held, and I am pleased to report that the quality of the papers presented received positive and objective feedback from the advisory council. Many new and highly applicable topics were discussed, particularly those with potential for commercialisation.”
As Chair of the Organising Committee for the Scientific Conference, Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết provided an overview of the key highlights of this year’s programme. The conference series emphasised interdisciplinary cooperation and technological collaboration between institutions within and outside the VNUHCM system. It also offered a valuable opportunity for domestic scientists to engage with the international scientific community, fostering connections between experts and students.
As part of the programme, the University of Science hosted several international specialised workshops on topics such as physical engineering, MEMS biosensors, advanced materials, sustainable chemistry trends, and advanced circuits and systems. Notably, a scientific seminar between the University of Hallym (South Korea) and the University of Science was anticipated to be a major highlight, promoting academic exchange and collaboration.
