The HCMUS-AleaJactaEst team from VNUHCM-University of Science has excellently secured First Prize at the ICPC Viet Nam National Contest 2025, solving 10 out of 12 problems correctly with a penalty score of 778. This result further solidifies the university’s leading position in cultivating programming talent and extends the university’s long tradition of consecutive appearances at the ICPC Regional rounds and World Finals.
The ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) is the world’s most prestigious programming contest, boasting over 50 years of history and attracting hundreds of thousands of students annually. Over the last 20 years, Viet Nam has consistently ranked among the 100–140 universities with teams reaching the ICPC Global Finals (World Finals). VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS), specifically, has an outstanding record with 12 appearances at the World Finals (in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025).
The ICPC Viet Nam National Contest 2025, organised by the Viet Nam Informatics Association, took place on the morning of 9 November across 12 testing sites nationwide. The event attracted 491 teams from universities and high schools—a record number to date. During the five-hour competition, teams were required to solve 12 algorithmic problems, with penalty points calculated based on the number of incorrect submissions. Approximately 100 top-performing teams will advance to the ICPC Asia Ho Chi Minh City Regional round—a crucial contest to select Viet Nam’s representatives to compete in the Asian region and proceed to the World Finals.

The HCMUS-AleaJactaEst team, comprising three students—Vũ Quốc Lâm, Trịnh Minh Huy, and Lê Nguyễn Hữu An (all from the Computer Science Advanced Programme)—took the national lead by correctly solving 10 out of 12 problems, incurring 778 penalty points. This impressive achievement comes just days after the group clinched the Silver Medal at the ICPC Asia Bangkok Regional 2025 competition in Thailand.
Alongside the national championship title, other HCMUS teams also achieved outstanding results, finishing within the leading group of the ICPC Viet Nam National 2025. Specifically, the HCMUS.Thaifamily team also solved 10 problems, while two other teams, HCMUS-HCMUS and HCMUS-TrinityForce, each completed 9 problems, further cementing the university’s established strength in Viet Nam’s most prestigious programming arena.
