[OUTSTANDING ROLE MODELS] ASSOC. PROF. ĐẶNG HOÀNG PHÚ: COMMITTED TO ‘CREATING KNOWLEDGE AND LIBERAL EDUCATION’

Assoc. Prof. Đặng Hoàng Phú focuses on the practical application of research and the commercialization potential of research products. He has published 77 articles in international journals and 47 in national journals, supervised five master’s students, and completed multiple research projects, including two at the university level, one with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, and three at the VNUHCM level.

Assoc. Prof. Đặng Hoàng Phú, a lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, was recently recognised as an Associate Professor in Chemistry. His research focused on the chemical composition of Vietnamese plants and the synthesis of natural compounds to enhance cytotoxic activity against cancer cells.

Despite facing challenges such as institutional constraints, funding issues, and a lack of resources, Assoc. Prof. Phú made significant contributions, publishing 77 papers in international journals and supervising five successful postgraduate students. He was also the youngest candidate to meet the standards set by the Interdisciplinary Chemistry–Food Technology Professor Council in 2024.

Assoc. Prof. Đặng Hoàng Phú receives the Golden Globe Youth Science and Technology Award in 2018.

He was dedicated to educating future chemists, emphasising the importance of practical learning. Assoc. Prof. Phú aimed to continue his research while enhancing its commercialisation potential and inspiring students at the University of Science through his teaching and mentorship.
