1.1 BILLION VND FOR SPONSORSHIP OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE LABORATORY EQUIPMENT

The VNUHCM-University of Science has signed a sponsorship agreement worth 1.1 billion VND with Red Solar Energy Joint Stock Company (Redsun) to provide advanced equipment for the “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle” Laboratory, creating opportunities for students to enhance their skills and knowledge and establishing a bridge between education and business in the renewable energy sector.

On 5th March, the VNUHCM-University of Science held a signing ceremony for the sponsorship agreement between the University and Redsun. This event marks a significant milestone in the cooperation between education and business, particularly in the field of renewable energy.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the University of Science, including Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan – President, Dr. Võ Hồng Hải – Deputy Head of the External Relations Office, Assoc. Prof. Huỳnh Văn Tuấn – Dean of the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics, and Dr. Đặng Hoài Trung – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics. Mr. Diệp Bảo Cánh – CEO and Managing Director of Redsun, also attended the event.

Redsun is a strategic and long-term partner of the University of Science, and Mr. Diệp Bảo Cánh – CEO and Managing Director of Redsun, is an alumnus of the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics and currently serves on the University’s Board of Trustees. Established in 2007, Redsun is the first solar panel manufacturer in Viet Nam. With support from both domestic and international investors, the company produces solar panels and other energy-saving products, such as solar water heaters, energy-efficient lighting, and various other renewable energy products. Currently, Redsun has a production capacity of 75 MWp per year and exports products to international markets, including the USA, Germany, France, and Japan.

Mr. Diệp Bảo Cánh – CEO and Managing Director of Redsun has an open discussion with the faculty members of the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics in his role as an alumnus of the faculty.

During the ceremony, the University of Science and Redsun signed a sponsorship agreement valued at 1.1 billion VND. Redsun has committed to providing a range of modern equipment to support training and research for the “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle” (UAV) Laboratory within the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics. The equipment includes component racks, drill presses, aluminium and steel cutting machines, CNC milling machines, laser cutting machines, 3D printers, mechanical workbenches, handheld mechanical tools, and research computers and drone construction kits. The laboratory will focus on research and applications in the fields of energy, electricity, artificial intelligence, and agriculture, offering opportunities to realise scientific projects. To operate effectively, UAV equipment will require licensing, safety standards compliance, and designated testing space.

According to the agreement, the University of Science will have full rights to use these devices for the teaching and research activities of faculty members and students. Additionally, Redsun will provide manuals and technical support for the equipment and will assist faculty members in developing training programmes using the equipment.

This collaboration not only opens up academic development opportunities but also helps students access advanced technologies and enhance their professional skills. At the same time, it builds a bridge between businesses and future researchers and educators, affirming the strong connection between education and business in developing high-quality human resources in the renewable energy field.
