On 3 July, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) and UV Joint Stock Company (UV JSC) formalised a ooperation agreement focused on research, development and technology transfer of scientific products.

The signing ceremony reaffirmed the strong partnership between academia and industry, aiming to bring research outcomes into real-world application and serve the community.

Delegates from HCMUS attending the ceremony included Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan – President; Assoc. Prof. Ngô Đại Nghiệp – Head of the Office of External Relations; Prof. Trần Linh Thước – Member of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Quách Ngô Diễm Phương – Dean of the Faculty of Biology – Biotechnology; Prof. Đặng Thị Phương Thảo – Head of the Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory; alongside academic and administrative staff. Delegates from UV JSC were Mr Trần Thanh Vân – Chairman of the Board, Mr Nguyễn Đăng Khoa – General Director, and executives from the Research and Development Division.

Bridging Academic Knowledge and Practical Innovation

In his remarks, Mr Trần Thanh Vân expressed appreciation for the longstanding support from VNUHCM-University of Science. He emphasised the importance of transforming today’s collaboration into tangible products: “We hope that today’s agreement will soon lead to the realisation of scientific products that move beyond laboratories and closer to everyday life—helping to address pollution and ensure food safety.”

Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan reaffirmed the university’s commitment to applied research: “The university consistently aligns research activities with societal needs. Collaboration with industry not only facilitates the practical application of scientific findings, but also shapes new research directions that address pressing community challenges. Furthermore, UV JSC remains a valuable site for students from the Faculty of Biology – Biotechnology to gain hands-on experience through internships and research projects.”

Strategic Dialogue and Shared Vision

The ceremony also served as an opportunity to review previous collaborative efforts and outline future directions in applied research. Strengthening partnerships with industry remains a strategic priority for HCMUS, reflecting the institution’s commitment to aligning scientific research with real-world demands.

Within the programme, both sides presented their current capacities and strategic visions. UV JSC introduced a state-of-the-art biotechnology plant, which meets GMP-WHO standards, and a roadmap for product commercialisation. From the university, Prof. Đặng Thị Phương Thảo shared ongoing applied research at the Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory, highlighting projects suitable for technology transfer. Both parties discussed and agreed on future collaboration areas, focusing on process transfer, joint research, and product development.

Following the signing, the university delegation visited the biotechnology plant of UV JSC to observe operational infrastructure and discuss further implementation plans.

This cooperation agreement not only formalises the partnership between HCMUS and UV Joint Stock Company but also underscores the commitment of both sides to bringing scientific knowledge into service of the community. By aligning academic research with enterprise needs, this collaboration contributes to promoting sustainable innovation and strengthening the role of science and technology in addressing national and global challenges.
