Leadership from both institutions signing the Memorandum of Understanding.

On 13 July, VNUHCM–University of Science (HCMUS) hosted a ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kepco International Nuclear Graduate School (KINGS), Korea. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in education, scientific research, and academic exchange, whilst expanding opportunities for learning, research, and professional development for staff and students from both institutions.

Attending the ceremony on behalf of HCMUS were Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan, the Rector, alongside representatives from the Office of External Relations and the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics. Representing KINGS were Prof. Dong-Wook Jerng, the President, together with members from the research, education, and admissions departments.

Speaking at the working session, Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan outlined the development, educational focus, and research directions of HCMUS, highlighting the strengths of the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics in nuclear engineering education and research. The Rector expressed high hopes that partnership with KINGS would expand opportunities for learning, research, and academic exchange for staff and students, whilst boosting international cooperation in the field of nuclear engineering.

On behalf of KINGS, Prof. Dong-Wook Jerng highly commended the educational quality and academic calibre of HCMUS students. The President introduced the KINGS educational model, which closely integrates academic training with the practicalities of the nuclear energy industry, and expressed a strong desire for both parties to implement the collaborative agreements effectively in the coming period.

Following the discussions, leadership from both institutions agreed to sign the MoU, focusing on key areas: student and postgraduate exchange through study, internship, and academic programmes; sharing of materials, curricula, scientific publications, and research findings; promotion of staff and researcher exchanges alongside the joint organisation of academic activities; collaborative implementation of research topics and projects within nuclear engineering and related fields; and co-organising conferences, workshops, and academic programmes between the two institutions.

The signing of the MoU between HCMUS and KINGS marks a new milestone in international relations within the field of nuclear engineering. The agreement promises to enable both parties to leverage respective strengths in education and research, whilst contributing to the enhancement of human resource quality and broadening horizons for learning, research, and international integration for staff and students.
