On 21 October, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) held a meeting with a delegation of French companies specialising in quantum technology at VNUHCM–University of Science (HCMUS). The meeting took place as part of the Viet Nam–France Quantum Technology Workshop, organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (HCMC C4IR), to explore opportunities for collaboration in research, technology development and the training of highly skilled professionals.
The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan, President of HCMUS, with representatives from Quobly, Quandela, QPerfect/BTQ and Thales Viet Nam in attendance.
Representatives of VNUHCM included members of the Board of External Relations and Project Development, the Board of Science and Technology, and the Board of Academic Affairs, alongside representatives responsible for external relations, academic departments and researchers from VNUHCM–University of Technology, HCMUS, VNUHCM–University of Information Technology and VNUHCM–International University.

During the meeting, representatives of the French companies outlined their research and technology development activities, together with strategic priorities in the quantum sector, and shared their interest in collaborating with Vietnamese higher education and research institutions. The discussions provided VNUHCM with further insight into emerging technological trends, specialist requirements and opportunities for cooperation between university research groups and industry.
Representatives of VNUHCM’s Board of External Relations and Project Development also presented an overview of the university system, research and training capabilities, and potential for international collaboration. With representatives from member universities and researchers across a range of disciplines in attendance, the meeting provided a platform for both sides to explore areas of expertise, identify shared interests and consider suitable avenues for future cooperation.
Building on these exchanges, participants discussed opportunities for joint research and quantum technology development, specialist training, expert exchanges and the potential implementation of collaborative projects in the coming years. These discussions sought to strengthen links between the research capabilities of universities, industry expertise in technology development and the practical needs of businesses.

Quantum technology is an emerging field attracting growing international research and development interest, with applications spanning computing, communications, sensing and devices based on the principles of quantum mechanics. Strengthening engagement between higher education institutions and international technology companies is important for advancing specialist knowledge, developing interdisciplinary research capabilities and preparing a skilled workforce for the sector.
Through the meeting with the French business delegation, VNUHCM had a further opportunity to expand international partnerships, connect the specialist strengths of member universities and explore new avenues for cooperation in quantum technology. The meeting also reinforced the role of HCMUS in academic exchange and international collaboration to advance emerging fields of science and technology.
