CONFERENCE: “DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION SOLUTIONS FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN UNIVERSITIES FROM ELSEVIER”

On the afternoon of 20 August, a scientific conference entitled “Digital Transformation Solutions for Science and Technology in Universities from Elsevier” was held at the Nguyen Van Cu campus of the University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City. The event was organised in collaboration with VNUHCM and iGroup Viet Nam, attracting participation from numerous managers, scientists, lecturers, and students, amidst a backdrop in which digital transformation had become an urgent requirement in higher education.

The conference featured several important delegates, including Assoc. Prof. Trần Cao Vinh – Vice Chancellor of VNUHCM, Assoc. Prof. Lâm Quang Vinh – Director of the Science and Technology Department of VNUHCM, and Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan – President of the University of Science, alongside a large number of lecturers and students from the institution.

The objective of the conference was to introduce the Pure System – an advanced online platform designed to assist in managing researchers’ profiles, tracking international publications, and connecting research networks. This system has been employed by many leading universities around the world, including Princeton, Johns Hopkins, and New York. It is a product of Elsevier, which boasted over 140 years of experience in the field of information and analysis, contributing to the enhancement of scientific prestige and supporting universities in their ranking and sustainable development efforts.

The conference was divided into two presentation sessions:

The first session, titled “How Elsevier Supports the Global Digital Transformation Process,” was presented by Mr. Grahame Pearson – Director of Technology Solutions for the Asia-Pacific region.

The second session featured Mr. Leo Juan – Director of Business Solutions for the Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and Viet Nam markets – who introduced the key functionalities of the Pure System in detail. This included solutions for managing expert networks, supporting university rankings according to QS/THE standards, promoting global branding for universities, enhancing opportunities for funding from international projects, and achieving sustainable development goals.

The conference not only provided valuable insights into the remarkable advances in digital transformation within the field of higher education but also created opportunities for networking and collaboration between scientists and managers in this area.
