On 19th August, the VNUHCM-University of Science organised a seminar featuring Prof. Trần Thế Truyền, Head of the Artificial Intelligence, Health and Science Department at Deakin University, Australia.
At the event, Prof. Truyền, along with distinguished speakers such as Dr. Lương Minh Thắng from Google DeepMind, Dr. Vũ Duy Thức from the New Turing Institute, and Prof. Po Shen Loh from Carnegie Mellon University, engaged in discussions about the significant role of artificial intelligence (AI) across various fields, including healthcare, education, and climate change.
Prof. Trần Thế Truyền emphasised that AI represented not only a technological advancement but also a tremendous opportunity for humanity to tackle global challenges. He highlighted Viet Nam’s advantages in establishing as a pioneering country in the AI sector, citing the young and abundant workforce, a well-developed education ecosystem, and significant societal interest.
During the interview, Prof. Trần Thế Truyền encouraged the younger generation to exhibit courage and creative thinking. He asserted that engaging in the field of AI transcended mere technological learning; it also entailed a responsibility for the repercussions that this technology might have on society and the environment.
According to him, “This is the time for young people to demonstrate courage, think broadly, think big, and think deeply to proactively take charge of a new capability that humanity has never witnessed or experienced.”
It was hoped that these valuable insights would inspire and guide many young individuals passionate about researching and applying AI in the future.
