On 18th October, VNUHCM-University of Science hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), led by Dr Dmitri Kamanin, Director of the University Centre. The JINR delegation included key personnel and leading experts in the field of nuclear research.
The meeting not only provided an opportunity for academic exchange but also reaffirmed the strong cooperative relationship between the two organisations in the realms of nuclear research and related technologies. Notably, representatives from the University of Science presented an overview of the institution, focusing on the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics, with particular emphasis on the Department of Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Engineering, and Medical Physics.
During his presentation, Dr Dmitri Kamanin outlined the remarkable activities, mission, and significant research initiatives undertaken by JINR. This information enabled attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the scale and impact of the Institute’s work in the field of nuclear research on the international stage.
A highlight of this visit from JINR was the Workshop for Young Vietnamese Researchers. At the workshop, JINR experts enthusiastically shared their knowledge and valuable experiences across various fields. Specifically, Dr Michael Nozdrin discussed the JINR Accelerator Facilities, while Dr Sergei Kichanov focused on Materials Science related to the IBR-2 reactor. Additionally, Dr Iurii Severiukhin presented on Radiobiological Research conducted at JINR’s facilities. Finally, Dr Dmitry Kamanin shared information regarding the capacity-building and training programmes that JINR has been implementing.
The discussion and Q&A session, which took place during and after the presentations, constituted essential aspects of the workshop. This aimed to enhance understanding of the knowledge shared and to lay the groundwork for a more sustainable cooperative relationship between the two parties.
The meeting concluded with a sense of satisfaction among the attending representatives and experts. The event not only aimed to establish connections but also opened various practical collaboration opportunities in the field of nuclear science research, contributing to the advancement of science and technology both domestically and internationally.
