Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between the VNUHCM-University of Science and Missouri State University Opens New Opportunities for Research, Education, and Academic Exchange, Strengthening International Relations between the Two Esteemed Institutions.

On 7th March, the VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) held a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with Missouri State University, USA (MSU) at the NVC campus. This event marks a significant milestone in the international partnership between the two esteemed institutions, opening up numerous opportunities for collaboration in research, education, and academic exchange.

The MSU delegation attending the signing ceremony was led by Prof. Brad Bodenhausen – Vice President of the Department of Community and Global Partnerships, along with other members.

Representatives from HCMUS included Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết – Vice President of the University, Dr. Võ Hồng Hải – Deputy Head of the Office of External Relations, and MSc. Trần Công Danh – Vice Director of the Centre for International Training and Education.

The MoU signed between MSU and HCMUS aims to enhance collaboration in the fields of research, faculty and student exchange, as well as to implement non-degree short-term educational programmes and other joint activities. These include:

• Academic Partnerships: Field schools and articulation programmes.
• Faculty and Student Exchanges: Creating opportunities for faculty and students from both universities to participate in academic exchange programmes.
• Customized Short-term Education Programmes: Offering short-term courses that can be tailored to specific needs and functions, either for academic credit or non-credit.
• Reciprocal Placement of Students’ Internships and Co-ops: MSU students participating in internships/training at HCMUS and vice versa.
• Joint Workshops and Conferences: Organising scientific conferences and workshops to exchange knowledge and experiences between faculty members, scientists, and researchers from both universities.
• Visits: Specific programmes for faculty, students, and postgraduate students to visit and engage with each other’s educational facilities.
• Joint Research Projects and Publications: Collaborating on research projects in which undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and researchers from both institutions work together and publish the results in scientific journals, educational journals, and other academic publications.
• Non-degree Executive Programmes: Offering courses aimed at developing soft skills, such as leadership, management, teamwork, etc.

Both parties are committed to finalising a detailed agreement on the terms of cooperation, including issues related to intellectual property and finance, while complying with existing legal regulations. The MoU is valid for 5 years and may be extended upon mutual agreement.

This MoU signing not only strengthens international cooperation but also provides an opportunity to improve the quality of teaching and research, offering both faculty and students of the two universities a platform for development. Moreover, it reinforces the long-term partnership between the VNUHCM-University of Science and Missouri State University, USA.
