On the afternoon of 27 December 2022, a delegation from VNUHCM-University of Science visited and worked with the People’s Committee of Đong Thap Province, signing a cooperation agreement for the period 2023-2025 across five key areas: (1) Digital Transformation, (2) Agriculture – Industry, (3) Environment, (4) Education, and (5) Health. The delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan, President of the University, alongside representatives from affiliated units.
The People’s Committee of Đong Thap Province extended a warm welcome to the delegation, which included Mr. Phạm Thiện Nghĩa, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Huỳnh Minh Tuấn, Vice Chairman, and directors and representatives from various departments, including Science and Technology, Health, Natural Resources and Environment, Education and Training, Agriculture and Rural Development, Information and Communication, and Industry and Trade. Leaders from Đong Thap University and Tràm Chim National Park also participated in the programme.
On behalf of the University of Science, Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan expressed honour at partnering with Đong Thap Province to develop essential fields that contribute to local construction and progress. He stated, “Our collaboration with Đong Thap Province will further enhance research and technology transfer activities at VNUHCM-University of Science, thereby supporting the implementation of the University’s development strategies and promoting our commitment to serve the community.”
Prior to the signing of this cooperation agreement, the University of Science had already engaged in significant research, cooperation, and technology transfer programmes with various organisations and individuals in the province. Notable initiatives included research at Tràm Chim National Park and a bamboo cultivation project in Gáo Giồng, as well as the transfer of water-circulating fish farming technology at Đong Thap Aqua Company in Lap Vo District.
Digital Transformation
– Develop solutions and policies for comprehensive digital transformation in agriculture, focusing on raising awareness, enhancing accessibility of agricultural digital technology, upgrading digital infrastructure, and establishing agricultural data systems.
– Research and implement solutions for the application of artificial intelligence in medical examination and treatment; train medical staff in digital transformation skills, network safety, and security.
– Formulate solutions and policies for comprehensive digital transformation in education, concentrating on building and refining the Education Sector Information System that connects shared data from the Ministry of Education and Training.
Agriculture – Industry
– Conduct research to improve and restore key agricultural plant and animal varieties suited to the production conditions of Đong Thap Province.
– Research and propose solutions for the application of advanced technology in agriculture.
– Investigate the identification of common ornamental flower species in Sa Đec City, Đong Thap Province.
– Develop research and the application of advanced technology in production to enhance productivity and product quality, improve economic efficiency, and contribute to the effective implementation of provincial programmes and projects in industry and agriculture.
Environment
– Research and propose solutions for adapting to climate change and conserving biodiversity in accordance with Đong Thap Province’s project.
– Investigate and develop solutions regarding geology, the environment, and related fields.
Education
– Coordinate the training of master’s and doctoral students in ministerial-level science and technology projects led by Đong Thap University.
– Collaborate on joint training initiatives, train officials, and organise training programmes focusing on natural sciences for high school students and teachers. This includes facilitating student exchanges for practical experience and research regarding career orientation, either at Đong Thap University, Tràm Chim National Park, or the Centre for High-tech Agricultural Inspection and Testing in Đong Thap Province.
Health
– Coordinate research and transfer new scientific advancements in medicine and pharmacy.
