VNUHCM-UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE WELCOMES DELEGATION FROM NATIONAL CENTRAL UNIVERSITY (NCU), TAIWAN

On 10 October, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) welcomed a delegation from National Central University (NCU), Taiwan. The programme focused on academic cooperation, exchange, and scholarship consultation for lecturers and learners, while fostering closer links between NCU and HCMUS faculties.

The NCU delegation was led by Prof. Chung-Pai Chang, Vice President for International Affairs, accompanied by representatives from the Colleges of Mathematics, Optics and Photonics, Civil Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences, and Earth Sciences. Also attending was Ms. Novia Hung-Pei Chen, Programme Manager from the Office of International Affairs. Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Văn Hiếu, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Semiconductor Industry Association (HSIA), joined the meeting to strengthen collaboration in semiconductor and high-technology fields.

Representing HCMUS were Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Lê Vũ Tuấn Hùng, Head of the Applied Physics Department, Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics; Assoc. Prof. Tô Thị Hiền, Head of the Environmental Engineering Department, Faculty of Environment; Dr. Tô Đức Khánh, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science; Assoc. Prof. Võ Lương Hồng Phước, Head of the Department of Oceanography – Meteorology – Hydrology, Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics; and Dr. Phạm Thanh Thủy, Faculty of Geology.

During the meeting, Prof. Chung-Pai Chang presented an overview of NCU – a leading public university in Taiwan established in 1915, comprising nine colleges and 23 academic departments. With more than 12,000 students, over half of whom are postgraduates, NCU demonstrates a strong research orientation. Prof. Chang emphasised NCU’s commitment to international collaboration, particularly in Earth sciences, environmental studies, engineering, and materials science. The university has established partnerships with over 200 institutions worldwide and is expanding its network across Southeast Asia, identifying Viet Nam as a strategic destination.

Following the plenary session, the programme continued with a scholarship consultation and advisory session, providing information on academic opportunities and support for international students in Taiwan, as well as interview sessions for HCMUS learners from relevant faculties.

 

The visit and working session with NCU further strengthened academic ties and opened new prospects for cooperation in education, research, and technological development in the years ahead.
