VNUHCM-UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE’S TEAM MADE ACHIEVEMENTS AT THE VIET NAM MATHEMATICAL OLYMPIAD

From April 8–13, 2024, Duy Tan University (Da Nang), the Vietnam Mathematical Society, the VNU University of Science, and the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics co-organised the Viet Nam Mathematical Olympiad with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Central Committee of Viet Nam National Union of Students.

This year’s competition has a total of 95 delegations from various academies and universities. The number of participants is 699, with 809 registrations, showing an increase of more than 10% compared to the previous year. The candidates will take two independent subjects, namely algebra and calculus. Students from universities and academies participate in either table A or table B. Prizes will be awarded for each subject.

At the end of the contest, students of the VNUHCM-University of Science excellently won specific prizes as follows:

First place:

Calculus: ĐOÀN ĐỨC TUẤN

Second place:

Calculus: NGUYỄN XUÂN TIẾN; VÕ THỊNH PHÁT

Algebra: ĐỖ TIỀN HẢI; NGUYỄN VŨ HOÀNG MINH

Third place:

Calculus: NGUYỄN ĐẶNG HỮU THỊNH; ĐOÀN QUANG THẮNG

Algebra: NGUYỄN XUÂN TIẾN; NGUYỄN HOÀNG KHÔI NGUYÊN

They are students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Faculty of Information Technology at the VNUHCM-University of Science.

The results of this year’s Mathematics Olympiad show the hard work and enthusiasm of both teachers and students towards mathematics. It is also a motivation for future student teams to focus more on upcoming competitions.

The Vietnam Mathematical Olympiad was started in 1993 by the Vietnam Mathematical Society as an opportunity for participants to experience interesting mathematical challenges and to meet and exchange ideas with students from across the country. The competition aims to promote the study of mathematics, inspire research in mathematics for excellent university and specialized high school students, and create opportunities for exchange and connection to enhance the quality of mathematics training.
