On the afternoon of December 30th, 2022, the Conference of Officials and Employees Delegates was held, featuring the participation of over 200 delegates elected from the Conference of Officials and Employees of the affiliated units.
The representative from Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City included Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Đình Tứ – Chief of Office; M.Sc. Lâm Tường Thoại – Chairman of the Trade Union and Head of the Emulation – Commendation Committee; Dr. Dương Tôn Thái Dương – Deputy Head of the Training Department; and Assoc. Prof. Lâm Quang Vinh – Head of the Science and Technology Department.
At the commencement of the Conference, the Organising Committee took a moment to honour eight Associate Professors appointed in 2022, namely:
– Assoc. Prof. Lê Nguyễn Hoài Nam, Major in Information Technology, Faculty of Information Technology;
– Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Văn Vũ, Major in Information Technology, Faculty of Information Technology;
– Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Thanh Bình, Major in Information Technology, Faculty of Mathematics – Informatics;
– Assoc. Prof. Huỳnh Lê Thanh Nguyên, Major in Chemistry and Food Technology, Faculty of Chemistry;
– Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Công Tránh, Major in Chemistry and Food Technology, Faculty of Chemistry;
– Assoc. Prof. Vũ Bích Ngọc, Major in Biology, Stem Cell Institute;
– Assoc. Prof. Phạm Kim Ngọc, Major in Physics, Faculty of Materials Science and Technology;
– Assoc. Prof. Bùi Việt Hưng, Major in Irrigation, Faculty of Environment.
Following this, Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan – President of the University, awarded the decisions to establish two new affiliated units: the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Science and the Centre for Brand Development and Community Connections. He also appointed Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Tuyết Phương as Dean and selected Prof. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Mai as the Centre’s Director. Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan presented the Emulation Flag of the Ministry of Education and Training to the Faculty of Information Technology and the Laboratory of Testing & Quality Assurance, recognising their outstanding achievements during the 2021-2022 academic year.
To conduct the entire programme, the Conference voted to approve a Presidium consisting of three members:
– Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the VNUHCM-University of Science;
– M.Sc. Dương Thị Bích Huệ – President of the Union of the VNUHCM-University of Science;
– Dr. Đinh Bá Tiến – Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology.
Delegates listened to the Summary Report, which included 148 comments from the Conference of the Units, the People’s Inspection Committee Report, and the Financial Report for 2022. The President and representatives from various units addressed these comments.
The conference featured lively discussions aimed at clarifying issues and proposing solutions to aid in the construction and development of the University during the period of financial autonomy. Assoc. Prof. Tô Thị Hiền – Head of the Department of Environmental Technology, expressed her views: “We need to invest more in laboratory projects to inspire student research, increase scientific publications, and simultaneously meet society’s needs in the University’s training fields.”
During the Conference, Mr. Văn Chí Nam – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, shared his observations regarding the repair work of the University’s facilities, emphasising the importance of thorough monitoring and quality assurance throughout the processes.
Ms. Lê Thị Thu Hiền – President of the University Student Union, voiced her concerns about the limited information regarding training courses for schools in remote provinces: “The University needs to enhance its promotion of the brand to provinces and cities while encouraging officials and employees to take part in promoting the University. Additionally, the University needs to improve its facilities and support services to fulfil learners’ expectations,” she noted.
After nearly four hours of discussion, the Conference reached consensus on the Final Report contents and the direction of tasks for the upcoming year, as well as the necessary explanations. All delegates expressed their hope that the University would successfully navigate the challenges of reforming its operating mechanisms to reach new heights of development.
