On the morning of 24 December 2022, a delegation from VNUHN-University of Science visited and worked with VNUHCM-University of Science. The delegation was led by Prof. Lê Thanh Sơn, Vice President, alongside leaders of various faculties and affiliated units, including Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Thị Hồng Minh, Head of the Academic Affairs Office; Assoc. Prof. Phạm Tiến Đức, Deputy Head of the Academic Affairs Office; Assoc. Prof. Đào Sỹ Đức, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry; and M.Sc. Lê Thị Vân, Head of the Planning and Finance Affairs Office.
The VNUHCM-University of Science participants who welcomed the delegation included Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan, President; Prof. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Mai, Vice President; and leaders from the Faculty of Chemistry, Academic Affairs Office, Graduate Studies Office, Personnel and Administration Office, External Relations Office, Equipments and Facilities Management Office, and Information and Communication Office.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan expressed his delight in welcoming the delegation from VNUHN-University of Science, noting that the Presidents of the two institutions had previously extended invitations for visits to discuss cooperation opportunities and share experiences in the development processes of two leading universities in the country, each dedicated to training in the field of basic sciences.
Following this, Prof. Lê Thanh Sơn conveyed warm greetings from Prof. Vũ Hoàng Linh, President of VNUHN-University of Science, who was unable to attend due to prior commitments. He expressed hope that the meeting would lay a foundation for deeper cooperation between the two universities. Prof. Sơn also shared his pleasure at the warm and thoughtful welcome extended by VNUHCM-University of Science.
The discussions took place in an open atmosphere, during which experiences in undergraduate and postgraduate education were shared, particularly in the area of basic sciences. Furthermore, both universities proposed specific plans to reach cooperation agreements following this meeting, expressing confidence that developments in basic sciences would attract many students, along with opportunities for research collaborations, credit exchanges, and the introduction of interdisciplinary training programmes.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Urban Area of VNUHCM to learn about the governance models and practical operational methods of these two campuses, with the aim of applying relevant insights to the Hoa Lạc campus of VNUHN-University of Science in the future.
Six months prior, the Faculties of Chemistry at both universities had signed a Memorandum of Understanding covering the period from 2022 to 2025.
