Over the past two days (11/11/2022–12/11/2022), the GIS Application Nationwide Conference 2022 was held at the VNUHCM-University of Sciences, focusing on the topic ‘GIS and Remote Sensing Applied in the Management of Natural Resources and Environment’. This event marked a significant milestone following the period of 2009–2021.

The main objective of the Conference was to provide a forum for scientists, managers, and stakeholders to exchange and share research findings and applications of GIS and remote sensing technology in areas related to natural resource management, environmental management, monitoring, and reducing the damage caused by natural disasters. The aim was also to propose research and development directions for GIS and remote sensing technology in the near future. In addition, the Conference sought to foster connections and expand training and research cooperation with both domestic and international partners.

This year’s Conference attracted nearly 120 papers from scientists both domestically and internationally, covering the following topics:
– Application of GIS and remote sensing in state management;
– Management of environmental resources and sustainable development goals;
– Risk management and disaster mitigation, disease control;
– Geospatial data management;
– Smart cities, digital cities, smart buildings;
– Artificial intelligence, big data, data analytics;
– Digital image processing (satellite, uncrewed aerial vehicle, aviation);
– LiDAR and GIS integration;
– Global positioning satellite systems.
