INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADVANCED CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS

On the afternoon of 11th November, the International Conference on Advanced Circuits and Systems (ICACS 2024) was officially inaugurated at the University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City. The event, hosted by the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, formed part of the 14th Scientific Conference of the University and attracted a significant number of students, researchers, scholars, and professionals in the field to discuss notable advancements in the circuit and system industry.

The opening ceremony featured a welcoming speech from Dr. Bùi Trọng Tú, Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications. During his speech, Dr. Tú emphasised the importance of the conference as a forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, while also encouraging interaction among participants and speakers.

Professor Koichiro Ishibashi shared his insightful observations on “The LSI Application Research as Training for IC Design”

The first speaker, Professor Koichiro Ishibashi, a Lifetime Fellow of IEEE and Emeritus Professor at the University of Electro-Communications in Japan, commenced the programme with insightful observations on “The LSI Application Research as Training for IC Design.” Following him, Dr. Lê Quang Đạm, General Director of Marvell Technology Viet Nam, presented on “Optical Connectivity in the AI Era,” enriching the discourse on the challenges and opportunities in modern technology.

The programme continued with technical sessions, during which researcher students, postgraduate students and lecturers from the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications presented their latest research in various areas related to advanced circuits and systems. Some notable topics included: Designing a Spiking Neural Network for Handwritten Digit Recognition using CMOS 180nm Technology, An Efficient 2D Squeeze-U-Net Model for Real-Time Noise Detection in Wearable Devices, Downlink Power Allocation in Cell-Free Massive MIMO Systems using an Attention-based Neural Network, A Flexible 2D Integer DCT Hardware Accelerator for H.266 as an SoPC Component, and Arrhythmia Prediction Based on a Compressed 2D CNN Model for AI Edge Devices.

The topics presented in this series of talks not only reflect trends in innovation but also highlight the immense potential of advanced technologies in practical applications, ranging from healthcare and wireless networks to circuit systems and wearable devices. These studies have provided a comprehensive overview of developments in the field of circuits and systems, while also offering attendees deeper insights into new technologies and their applications—applications that are already having, and will continue to exert, a significant impact on society and the economy in the near future.

The International Conference on Advanced Circuits and Systems 2024 provided a vibrant and meaningful academic platform, offering an opportunity for participants to share the latest advancements in the field of circuits and systems.
