On 30 July, more than 250 students from high schools across Ho Chi Minh City took part in Open Science Day 2025 at VNUHCM-University of Science. The event created a vibrant academic environment, fostering a passion for research and providing guidance on scientific career pathways.
Delegations attended from leading schools including Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Tran Khai Nguyen High School, Nguyen Huu Tho High School, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, the High School for the Gifted in Physical Education and Sports, Nguyen Khuyen High School, Marie Curie High School, Nguyen An Ninh High School, and Nguyen Thuong Hien High School. Their presence brought youthful energy to the campus, enriching an atmosphere of inspiration.
Students explored specialised laboratories spanning diverse disciplines, from fundamental sciences to applied technologies. At the Faculty of Geology, participants viewed rare specimens and examined advanced research in the Geochemistry – Environmental Geology Laboratory, the Specimen Collection and Archive Room, and the Petrography – Mineralogy Laboratory, uncovering the stories preserved within layers of rocks and minerals.
The technology and engineering zone drew strong interest with the Makerspace creative hub and the Robotics & IoT Club, where students engaged in programming, robot control, and intelligent design. The 3D Printing Technology Laboratory and the Semiconductor Materials and Devices Laboratory provided insights into modern technologies and real-world applications.
The life sciences area impressed with dynamic experiments in the Zoology Laboratory, the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, and the Applied Physical Chemistry Laboratory. The Environmental Pollution Analysis and Control Laboratory and the Environmental Informatics Laboratory deepened awareness of environmental protection and data science applications in ecosystem management.
The science creativity space in the Building I lobby was a lively focal point, offering interactive games and visual models that embodied the spirit of “learning through play”.
Open Science Day 2025 was more than an academic showcase, serving as an invitation for young people to embark on a journey of discovery. With a commitment to nurturing students passionate about science, HCMUS aims for these experiences to become lasting inspirations that help shape future aspirations.
