On the morning of Sunday, 30th October 2022, the anniversary titled ’20 Years of Establishment in the Faculty of Materials Science: Rejoinder and Gratitude’ took place at VNUHCM-University of Science. This event commemorated a significant milestone, marking 20 years of establishment, construction, and development of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology.
Dignitaries present at the anniversary included Assoc. Prof. Lâm Quang Vinh, Director of the VNUHCM-Science and Technology Department; Assoc. Prof. Trần Cao Vinh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council; and Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, Vice President of VNUHCM-University of Science. Also in attendance were the faculty’s teaching staff, leaders of member units within VNUHCM-US, former university and Faculty of Materials Science and Technology leaders, as well as members of the Board of Directors of the University, along with leaders from other universities, institutes, and partner enterprises of the Faculty.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary, sports activities such as badminton, football, and running were organised. More than 300 participants, including students, alumni, officials, and representatives from various enterprises, took part. These activities aimed to promote physical exercise, foster connections, and create an exciting atmosphere leading up to the official anniversary celebration.
During the ceremony, generations of alumni reunited to listen to teachers and fellow graduates share their experiences and to reflect on the 20-year journey of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology. Despite many challenges, the Faculty had achieved outstanding accomplishments in education and scientific research, making a significant contribution to its development at VNUHCM-University of Science and Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City. This occasion also provided the Faculty with an opportunity to express gratitude to the teachers and businesses that had supported it over the years. Additionally, eleven scholarships under the “Study Promotion—Talent Promotion” programme were awarded to students with excellent academic performance and challenging family circumstances, aimed at supporting and motivating them in their future studies.
The event unfolded in a warm, sincere, and emotional atmosphere. Alumni felt as though they were returning to their shared roots, determined to excel in “Connect to Shine” and further spread the spirit of materials science and technology to future generations.
