On the morning of 11th November, the opening ceremony of the Educational Technology and Interdisciplinary Science Subcommittee took place at the University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (on Nguyen Van Cu campus). This event represented one of the significant subcommittees within the framework of the University’s annual scientific conference.
During her opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Tuyết Phương, Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Science and Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Chemistry, welcomed the participating scientists, staff, lecturers, students, and representatives from businesses. She expressed her confidence that the collaboration and exchanges within the subcommittee would pave the way for new knowledge while also promoting development in the fields of educational technology and interdisciplinary science.
The subcommittee focused on various aspects, including reports on research findings related to educational technology and interdisciplinary science, sharing experiences from technology firms, as well as presentations and demonstrations of technological products applied in education.
The morning session concentrated on technological content, beginning with a presentation on the future of teaching and learning by Mr. Theodore Lai, an educator from Apple. This was complemented by notable research from other scholars covering topics such as ATRIOX – a computational assistant for organic chemistry, public speaking simulations with audience feedback, image classification technology, and AI assessment in user interactions. In the afternoon, the focus shifted towards education, addressing crucial themes such as digital transformation strategies in higher education, enhancing STEM education with tools for measuring lecture quality, modular STEM teaching approaches, using science film festivals to raise climate awareness, and comparing science curricula between Viet Nam and Taiwan.
Attendees included scientists, lecturers, and researchers, both domestically and internationally, along with postgraduate and undergraduate students from various faculties within the University of Science, as well as representatives from technology firms and partners engaged in the application of technology in education.
With a strong turnout of experts and a diverse range of content, the Educational Technology and Interdisciplinary Science Subcommittee promised to be a valuable forum, contributing to the advancement of technology applications and fostering interdisciplinary research in Viet Nam.
