The President of VNUHCM-University of Science issued Decision No. 2104, establishing the Central for Brand Development and Community Connections, and Decision No. 2203 for the establishment of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Science, effective from 1st December 2022.

According to the approved establishment project, the U-Sci Hub for Branding Development and Community Engagement (referred to as U-Sci Hub) performed several tasks:

(1) Promoting the connection activities of the University in alignment with the needs of enterprises and social organisations;

(2) Pooling resources from former officials and alumni;

(3) Coordinating with enterprises to organise short-term training courses aimed at disseminating and updating knowledge, as well as introducing new technologies to serve the community;

(4) Endeavouring to bring science closer to everyday life while managing and developing the University’s brand to orient VNUHCM-University of Science towards becoming a leading institution in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia for training and scientific research.

Professor Nguyễn Thị Thanh Mai was appointed as the Director (Decision No. 2140/QD-KHTN).

The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Science is the 10th faculty of the University of Science, established to offer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in emerging disciplines that integrate fundamental knowledge from critical fields such as Science, Engineering, and Technology.

These areas also encompass knowledge from various other domains, including Management, Education, and Economics-Commerce, to cater to the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary demands reflective of current global development trends and to foster innovation for the future.

During its initial three-year phase, the Faculty aimed to develop and implement a pilot training programme in Integrated Science, Management Science, Economics, Commerce, Science, and Technology, among others, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as joint training programmes with international institutions.

Associate Professor Nguyễn Tuyết Phương was appointed as the Dean (Decision No. 2204/QD-KHTN).
