ICPC ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP AND OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AT THE VIETNAMESE STUDENT INFORMATICS OLYMPICS 2022

On the evening of 9th December, the 31st Vietnamese Student Informatics Olympics (OLP’22), together with Procon Viet Nam and the ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest in Asia – Ho Chi Minh City 2022, concluded successfully, celebrating the best talents.

OLP’22 saw participation from 71 universities, colleges, and academies across the country. There were 74 students competing in the Super Cup, 177 in the Specialised Informatics category, 142 in the Non-specialised Informatics category, 12 collegiate students, 45 participating in Open Source Software, and 49 in Procon Viet Nam. Meanwhile, the ICPC Asia 2022 HCMC competition featured 132 teams, with 125 teams from Viet Nam comprising 375 students, while the National University of Singapore fielded 7 teams with 21 students.

After three days of competition and with the enthusiastic guidance of instructors, alongside the talent, solidarity, and determination of the students of VNUHCM-University of Sciences, they achieved excellent performances and impressive results. Consequently, the championship of ICPC Asia 2022, HCMC, was awarded to Team HCMUS-BurnedTomatoes. The results were as follows:

VIETNAMESE STUDENT INFORMATICS OLYMPICS 2022

Non-Specialised Informatics:

– Champion: Võ Hoàng Anh (High-Quality Programme, Class of 2022);

– First Prize: Cao Hữu Khương Duy (High-Quality Programme, Class of 2022);

– Second Prize: Phan Hải Minh (High-Quality Programme, Class of 2022);

– First Prize for the Team in the Non-specialised Informatics category.

Specialised Informatics:

– First Prize: Phan Duy Trung Hiếu (Bachelor of Talents, Class of 2019) and Lê Minh Hoàng (Advanced Programme, Class of 2020);

– Second Prize: Phạm Văn Tấn Sang (Advanced Programme, Class of 2021);

– First Prize for the Team in the Specialised Informatics category.

Super Cup:

– Third Prize: Hồ Ngọc Vĩnh Phát (Advanced Programme, Class of 2021);

– Bronze Cup: Thái Xuân Đăng (Bachelor of Talents, Class of 2019) and Lê Bảo Hiệp (Advanced Programme, Class of 2020).

Mr. Nguyễn Long, a member of the Central Council of the Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Associations, awarded a certificate of merit from the Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology for the organisation and training of the Olympic Games to the Faculty of Information Technology at VNUHCM-University of Science.

2022 HCMC INTERNATIONAL COLLEGIATE PROGRAMMING CONTEST IN ASIA

Team HCMUS-BurnedTomatoes (Lê Bảo Hiệp, Hồ Ngọc Vĩnh Phát, Nguyễn Vũ Đăng Huy – Advanced Programme) triumphed as champions of ICPC Asia. They secured a place in the International Finals (World Finals 2022).

Thus, Team HCMUS-BurnedTomatoes achieved back-to-back championships in ICPC Asia in 2021 and 2022.
