On 1st and 3rd December, the VNUHCM-University of Sciences solemnly held the Commendation Ceremony for Full-Time University Graduates of 2022. The purpose of the graduation ceremony was to evaluate and summarise the training process while simultaneously honouring individuals who had achieved excellence in learning. The event also involved awarding diplomas to students.
The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan, the President of the University; Prof. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Mai, the Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, the Vice President; alongside representatives from the leadership of various faculties and departments, representatives from central units directly under the university, lecturers involved in teaching, as well as the new graduates and their families and friends.
During the ceremony, M.Sc. Phạm Thị Thuận, Deputy Head of the Academic Affairs Office, read a summary of the newspapers and announced the decision to recognise the graduation of 2,214 students who had enrolled in Full-Time programmes, including the General Programme, Bachelor of Talents Programme, Advanced Programme, Vietnamese-French Programme, and High-Quality Programme. Among them, 14 new graduates were awarded the title of Valedictorian across various disciplines. The overall Valedictorian of the University was Tăng Lợi Phát, a new graduate majoring in Computer Science (Advanced Programme).
In the joyous and emotional atmosphere of the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan expressed his pride in witnessing the success of the new graduates, who now embodied the qualities of “morality, wisdom, athleticism, and taste,” thus becoming an elite generation of young intellectuals. This success was attributed to the students’ perseverance in overcoming challenges, the guidance and dedicated knowledge-sharing from teachers and staff, as well as the investment, support, trust, and continuous involvement of their parents.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors and the teaching staff, I hope and wish that you will all quickly secure employment, continue to uphold and enrich the traditions of the generations before you, and bring further glory to the University of Science. The University will always be there for you, sharing in both your failures and successes on your new path, and we warmly welcome alumni back to the University to keep updated with new knowledge,” stated Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan.
New graduate Tăng Lợi Phát, the Valedictorian of the University, and new graduate Nguyễn Phú Thành, the Valedictorian in Mathematics and Informatics, expressed their sincere gratitude to the Board of Directors and the teaching staff on behalf of their fellow graduates.
The students had endured challenging times due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with resilience, unwavering determination, and a passion for learning, the cohorts of 2017 and 2018 ultimately reaped the rewards of their hard work with their Bachelor’s degrees in hand. It is hoped that this achievement will serve as a solid stepping stone and a foundation for success as the new graduates transition from university to society.
