On the afternoon of September 19^th, the Leadership of the University of Science welcomed a delegation of experts to conduct a preliminary survey to prepare for the quality assessment according to the quality accreditation standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training. The evaluation team conducted an initial inspection of the preparation of proofs and some places the University prepared for the official survey from October 7^th to October 12^th, 2022.

At the meeting, PhD. Tạ Thị Thu Hiền – Director of the Central for Education Accreditation – Viet Nam National University, Hanoi, on behalf of the survey team, shared the initial opinions of the preparation for this assessment: “The University of Science has well-prepared records, especially the digitization of the documents, the reports are prepared quite well, and the University also made remarkable improvements from the reviews of the previous assessment in 2016”.

During the discussion on the points that need to be clarified in the preparation between the University and the accreditation team, Prof.Dr Nguyễn Hữu Đức also highly appreciated the achievements that the officials, officers, and employees of the University have built, but also pointed out the significant challenges that the University has to face when the admissions context for specific majors is not as expected. Prof.Dr Nguyễn Hữu Đức also suggested that the University of Science need to supplement the evidence and show off what has been achieved according to the initial feedback of the evaluation team before the official accreditation date.

At the end of the survey, both parties signed the working record. They expressed the will of the evaluation team in a spirit of respect for colleagues, fair assessment, objective judgment, thorough feedback and accurate advice in the University’s development process.

Some concepts, according to Circular No. 12/2017/TT-BGDĐT on May 19th, 2017, of the Minister of Education and Training on Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions

“Quality of a Higher Education Institution” is the fulfilment of the goals set by the educational institution, the requirements for the educational objectives of the Law on Higher Education, and the requirements for training human resources for the locality’s socio-economic development and the whole country.

“Evaluating the quality of a Higher Education Institution” means collecting and processing information and making judgments based on evaluation criteria for all activities of the educational institution, including quality assurance in terms of strategy, quality assurance in terms of system, quality assurance in function performance and operational results of the educational institution.

“Accreditation of the quality of Higher Education Institutions” is an activity to evaluate and recognize the degree to which an educational institution meets the academic quality standards promulgated by the Minister of Education and Training.
