Over 81 years since its establishment and development, the VNUHCM-University of Sciences has determined that its mission is central to the training, research, development, and application of science and technology. This mission aims to provide human resources and scientific and technological products to meet the socio-economic development requirements of the country. From 2021 to 2025, the University aspired to maintain its leading position in the country in fundamental science and certain essential scientific technologies, contributing to the goal of elevating the Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City to 15,000 Scopus-indexed publications and placing it among the Top 100 leading universities in Asia.
The University recognised that scientific research, technology transfer, and international cooperation must consistently go hand in hand to support its professional activities; hence, the Science Conference of the University of Sciences was held every two years. This conference served as a forum for both domestic and foreign scientists to present their research findings across all scientific disciplines and fields of research and education within the University. It provided a platform for exchanging ideas and solutions to scientific and technological challenges, stimulating collaboration, and fostering interdisciplinary research. Additionally, the conference provided an opportunity for young scientists, graduate students, and undergraduates to share their research.
This year’s conference took place from November 21st to November 26th and was organised in collaboration with the Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and the Military Institute of Science and Technology, a leading research institute in Viet Nam, specialising in fundamental science, military science, and technology for national security.
The Organising Committee for the 13th Science Conference in 2022 was delighted to receive 572 paper registrations from various training institutions and domestic and foreign research institutes. These papers covered numerous branches of natural science and technology, including Information and Communication Technology, Geology and Earth Resources, Electronics and Telecommunications, Chemistry, Materials Science and Technology, Nuclear Engineering and Medical Physics, Environment, Biology – Biotechnology, and Mathematics – Informatics.
Within the framework of the programme, the Opening Ceremony of the Conference was held in the morning of November 21st, with the participation of Colonel Professor Nguyễn Việt Bắc, Professor Yu-Chen Hu (Tsinghua University – Taiwan, China), and Associate Professor Đào Nguyên Khôi, who delivered scientific reports. At the same time, the University of Sciences solemnly honoured three scientists who won the Science and Technology Prize in 2022 and were awarded the Lê Văn Thới Award in recognition of their excellent graduation topics.
