On the afternoon of 17 June, the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics and the Faculty of Geology, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS), welcomed and held discussions with a delegation from the National University of Laos as part of a working visit aimed at expanding academic cooperation between the two institutions.

This visit created space for in-depth dialogue and professional connection, with a focus on physics, geology, and engineering — fields of strategic importance in education and research, particularly in countries undergoing industrialisation, modernisation, and sustainable development.

During the meeting, both sides discussed and reached consensus on several key areas to deepen cooperation. These included: the renewal of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU); a vision to elevate collaboration from faculty-level to institutional-level; the development of joint postgraduate training programmes; the promotion of student, researcher, and academic staff exchanges; the implementation of scholarship schemes and joint research project proposals; and coordination in organising international academic seminars and conferences in the near future.

Academic discussions and cooperation strategies were shared during the visit on 17 June at VNUHCM-University of Science.

In addition to advancing collaboration with the Faculty of Geology and the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics, the National University of Laos delegation expressed interest in expanding partnerships with other units within HCMUS that share similar academic directions, aiming toward the establishment of a comprehensive, long-term, and effective partnership.

Representatives from both institutions also affirmed that fostering educational and research cooperation not only contributes to academic advancement and the training of high-quality human resources, but also strengthens the longstanding friendship between Viet Nam and Laos. In a region facing numerous global challenges, joint initiatives between universities are expected to serve as a vital foundation for sustainable development in the era of knowledge.
