On 23 September 2026, VNUHCM–University of Science (HCMUS) met with Military Hospital 175 to discuss directions for collaboration in education, scientific research and technology applications, while agreeing in principle to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.

The HCMUS delegation was led by Prof. Nguyễn Trung Nhân, Vice President, and included representatives of the Office of External Relations and lecturers from the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics. Military Hospital 175 was represented by Prof. Nguyễn Văn Ba, Deputy Director of the Hospital, together with doctors, engineers and representatives of specialist departments.
HCMUS and Military Hospital 175 established a partnership in 2015 and have previously collaborated on student observational placements. To date, 26 HCMUS students have undertaken research projects at the Hospital, demonstrating the potential to further strengthen links between education, research and professional practice.

During the meeting, HCMUS proposed renewing the MoU and extending collaboration beyond the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics to other fields aligned with the needs and strengths of both institutions. Building on this proposal, the two sides aim to establish practical mechanisms for cooperation in education, joint supervision, scientific research, academic publications and research knowledge transfer.
In education, both institutions aim to strengthen cooperation in observational placements and internships, enabling students to gain experience in professional environments and engage with real-world challenges in healthcare. Joint supervision of undergraduate dissertations, master’s theses and doctoral theses was also proposed to draw on the expertise of lecturers, scientists, doctors and engineers from both institutions.

The two sides also discussed opportunities to undertake joint research projects in application-oriented areas, including medical imaging, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, quality assurance (QA), artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, data management and measurement equipment.
The expanded partnership is expected to bring the University’s strengths in fundamental science, physics and technology into closer alignment with the specialist expertise and practical needs of Military Hospital 175. Through this collaboration, the two institutions aim to develop an integrated approach spanning education, research, publication and technology transfer, while broadening study and research opportunities for students and promoting the application of science and technology in healthcare.
