VNUHCM-UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE WELCOMES DELEGATION FROM THE CHINESE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG

On the morning of 13th August 2024, the University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, welcomed a delegation from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) for a visit and discussions on collaborative efforts.

The event was attended by representatives from CUHK, including Professor Stephen Dalton, a global STEM scholar from the School of Biomedical Sciences. The delegation from the University of Science included Associate Professor Ngô Đại Nghiệp, Head of the External Relations Office; Associate Professor Trương Hải Nhung, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Biology – Biotechnology; and Doctor Nguyễn Trường Sinh, Head of the Science and Technology Office at the Stem Cell Institute.

The primary aim of the visit was to strengthen the collaborative relationship between the two institutions, with the shared goal of advancing scientific research and education. In-depth discussions took place regarding joint research projects, particularly in the field of Biomedical Sciences, as well as potential collaboration in organising specialised workshops and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the future.

Additionally, the two parties discussed the selection of talented Vietnamese students, focusing on expanding student recruitment and exchange programmes at CUHK. This also included postgraduate programmes in specific research areas such as Cancer Biology and Experimental Therapy, Developmental and Regenerative Biology, Neurobiology, Vascular Biology, and Metabolism.

This event not only provided significant opportunities for researchers, faculty members, and students from the University but also marked an important collaborative relationship between the two universities. It is hoped that through these cooperative activities, the research and training quality of both institutions will improve, providing tangible benefits to the scientific community and society at large.
