On the morning of 24 December, the seminar titled “Developing Human Resources in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for 2024” was held at the University of Science, organised by the Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City.
The seminar brought together leading experts in the field of AI, including esteemed specialists and pioneering enterprises. This provided a valuable opportunity for delegates and students to access advanced knowledge while exploring useful solutions for training and developing human resources in AI.
In his opening address, Mr. Lâm Đình Thắng, a Member of the City Party Committee and Director of the Department of Information and Communications, emphasised the significant role of artificial intelligence in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He reaffirmed the substantial impact of AI on the sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City, noting that artificial intelligence not only served as a vital tool for enhancing management efficiency in the city but also constituted a foundation for building a smart urban environment that catered to the needs of its residents.
The seminar featured comprehensive insights from experts across eight specialised topics:
Topic 1: “Collaboration in Training, Developing, and Enhancing Human Resources in Artificial Intelligence,” presented by Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, Vice President of the University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết proposed that the city needed a strategic plan for researching and developing AI applications, prioritising specific research topics. He asserted that the city should establish mechanisms to encourage AI applications capable of interconnecting with various interdisciplinary fields. AI applications could facilitate the development of other sectors, such as healthcare and tourism. To ensure effective application, he stressed the importance of identifying pressing problems to solve. Consequently, local authorities needed to create tasks that identified the demands of the city, public entities, and businesses where AI could be beneficial. According to Assoc. Prof. Triết, AI applications could address domestic challenges, and participation in international projects would help tackle broader societal issues. He also advocated for continued support for research projects undertaken by young individuals to nurture entrepreneurial initiatives.
Topic 2: “Training Human Resources in Artificial Intelligence in the Current Context,” presented by Assoc. Prof. Phạm Trần Vũ, Vice President of the University of Technology, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Topic 3: “Policies for Attracting AI Talent and Directions for Applying this Technology in State Management, Business Development, and Community Service in Ho Chi Minh City,” presented by Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thu Sương, Head of the Science Management Department, Department of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City.
Topic 4: “Research and Application Directions for Artificial Intelligence in Ho Chi Minh City,” presented by Mr. Nguyễn Minh Huấn, Permanent Executive of the AI Research and Development Programme, Department of Information and Communications.
Topic 5: “High-Performance Computing Infrastructure for Research and Development of AI Applications in Ho Chi Minh City,” presented by Assoc. Prof. Thoại Nam, Director of the Computing Engineering Centre, University of Technology, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Topic 6: “Some Results from the International-Level Training Project for Human Resources in Artificial Intelligence,” presented by Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Văn Vũ, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Topic 7: “Connecting AI Human Resource Training with Business Development Needs in the Context of Globalisation,” presented by Dr. Hoàng Lê Minh, Director of the Technology and AI Application Centre, Văn Lang University.
Topic 8: “Proposals for Developing Human Resources in Artificial Intelligence from a Business Perspective,” presented by Mr. Trần Phúc Hồng, Deputy General Director of TMA Technology Group.
