VIET NAM’S TEAM EXCELLENCE AT ICPC ASIA HA NOI 2024

The University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City continued to assert the leading position in academic competitions with outstanding achievements at two prestigious contests: the 33rd Viet Nam Student Informatics Olympiad and the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Ha Noi 2024.

The ICPC Asia Ha Noi 2024 tournament was the largest ever, featuring 411 students from 137 teams, along with over 100 lecturers and coaches from more than 61 universities, colleges, and institutes across Viet Nam, as well as 20 teams comprising 60 students from nine national universities: South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand. The top teams would proceed to the ICPC Asia Pacific Championship for the second time, scheduled to be held in Singapore in February 2025.

In the final results, the HCMUS-AtCoder team achieved a Gold Medal, becoming the highest-ranked team from Viet Nam. The team members included:

– Võ Khắc Triệu – Advanced Programme Class of 2023
– Vũ Quốc Lâm – Advanced Programme Class of 2023
– Lê Nguyễn Hữu An – Advanced Programme Class of 2024

Notably, the team also secured a Gold Medal at ICPC Asia Jakarta in early December 2024. This clearly demonstrated the members’ exceptional algorithmic thinking skills and outstanding team spirit.

Courage and Talent at the 33rd Viet Nam Student Informatics Olympiad

Spanning 32 years, the Viet Nam Student Informatics Olympiad has been regarded as a vibrant and practical competition for students from universities and colleges. This year’s event saw participation from 78 universities, colleges, and institutes nationwide, with nearly 600 students competing, including 67 students in the Super Cup category, 194 in the Specialist Informatics category, 92 in the General Informatics category, 45 in the Open Source Software category, and 38 students participating in Procon Viet Nam.

With courage, confidence, and talent, the team from the University of Science continued to make a significant mark with their high achievements:

– First Prize in the Specialist Informatics category: Đặng Thanh Long, Trần Thiên Phúc
– Third Prize in the Specialist Informatics category: Nguyễn Văn Minh
– Third Prize in the Super Cup category: Tăng Xuân Bắc, Vũ Quốc Lâm, Lê Văn Cường, Nguyễn Anh Dũng
– Silver Cup in the Super Cup category: Võ Khắc Triệu
