On 26 September 2026, the Stem Cell Institute at VNUHCM–University of Science (HCMUS) hosted the 3rd Annual SCI TechUpdate Scientific Conference. Bringing together more than 500 delegates from over 120 organisations, the conference provided a forum for academic exchange, updates on scientific and technological advances, and stronger connections across biotechnology, biomedicine, stem cell research and cell therapy.
The 3rd Annual SCI TechUpdate Scientific Conference 2026, organised by the Stem Cell Institute at VNUHCM–University of Science, brought together more than 500 delegates from over 120 organisations, with opening remarks delivered by Associate Professor Phạm Văn Phúc, Director of the Stem Cell Institute.

The conference was attended by Prof. Nguyễn Trung Nhân, Vice President of VNUHCM–University of Science; People’s Physician Associate Professor Lê Đình Thanh, Director of Thong Nhat Hospital; and Associate Professor Phạm Văn Phúc, Director of the Stem Cell Institute, alongside experts, scientists, medical practitioners, lecturers, researchers, students, and representatives of businesses and organisations working in related fields.

SCI TechUpdate 2026 featured one plenary session and three thematic sessions. Presentations explored recent research findings, emerging technological trends and potential applications in stem cell research, cell therapy, immunotechnology, regenerative medicine, biotechnology and biomedical innovation.
During the plenary session, experts discussed key issues in cell technology and regenerative medicine, with particular emphasis on the relationship between fundamental research, technology development and applications in healthcare. These fields require close integration of biological knowledge, analytical technologies, cell culture and processing capabilities, safety standards, and the practical needs of clinical medicine.
The programme continued with three thematic sessions examining specific research directions and applications. These sessions provided opportunities for the scientific community to share research findings, engage with technological advances and discuss prospects for practical implementation. The presentations not only reflected the rapid development of modern biomedical sciences but also highlighted the growing need for collaboration among scientists, healthcare institutions, technology companies, and research and educational organisations.

A key highlight of this year’s conference was the Innovation Zone, a dedicated space connecting research, technology and applications. Featuring 17 participating organisations, the zone showcased more than 30 technologies, products and solutions. Delegates had the opportunity to explore and discuss technologies related to cells, exosomes, immune cells and cell culture, alongside solutions supporting biomedical research, production and applications.
The Innovation Zone expanded the conference beyond an academic forum into a platform for technological exchange and collaboration. Through demonstrations, direct discussions and networking, research outcomes and technological solutions gained further opportunities to address practical needs, paving the way for collaboration in product development, testing, technology transfer and commercialisation.

Beyond advancing specialist knowledge, SCI TechUpdate aims to foster a network connecting scientists, medical practitioners, healthcare institutions, businesses and organisations across the biomedical ecosystem. Interaction between research, technology and practical applications is essential to advancing new directions in biotechnology, regenerative medicine and cell therapy in Viet Nam.
Following three editions, SCI TechUpdate has progressively established a collaborative forum for professional exchange in cell and biomedical sciences. SCI TechUpdate 2026 continued to bring research findings and technological advances closer to practical application, while expanding opportunities for collaboration among scientific research, healthcare and industry.
