MoU Signing and Talent Exchange Launch Ceremony between VNUHCM-US, KITECH, and UST at the Nguyen Van Cu Campus, Ho Chi Minh City – 24 April.
On 24 April, VNUHCM-University of Science (VNUHCM-US) formally inaugurated a strategic partnership with the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) and the University of Science and Technology (UST) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The ceremony, held at the Nguyen Van Cu Campus of VNUHCM-US, was graced by the presence of Dr Lee Sang-mok – President of KITECH, Prof. Kang Dae-im – President of UST, and a delegation of nearly 20 distinguished experts from leading research institutions in the Republic of Korea. VNUHCM-US was represented by Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết – Vice-President and heads of academic units engaging in in-depth discussions on developmental orientations, research collaboration, technological transfer, and specialised training initiatives.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết – Vice-President of VNUHCM-US – emphasised:
“This tripartite collaboration will not only broaden academic pathways for lecturers, students, and postgraduate learners, but will also significantly augment research capabilities, facilitate access to cutting-edge technologies, and promote sustainable development through deepened international integration.”
Key areas of collaboration outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) include: the development of joint educational programmes between VNUHCM-US, KITECH, and UST; the exchange of faculty members, researchers, and technical staff; student mobility initiatives; the co-organisation of guest lectures, scientific symposia, and thematic academic events; the sharing of academic resources, research data, and scholarly publications; and the joint implementation of research projects in advanced technological fields such as materials science, catalysis, electronics and telecommunications, environmental science, and renewable energy, among others.

As part of the event agenda, representatives from KITECH and UST contributed a Keynote speech and an overview of emerging industrial trends and information about postgraduate programmes, admissions procedures, and scholarship opportunities available at the KITECH School, affiliated with UST.

Following the ceremony, the KITECH-UST delegation conducted a site visit to the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory – Faculty of Chemistry, where they observed the University’s state-of-the-art research infrastructure, ongoing projects, and academic activities.

Upon conclusion of the programme, undergraduate students from VNUHCM-US attending the ceremony were interviewed on site by KITECH-UST researchers. These interviews formed part of the selection process for internship placements within strategic research projects currently under way at KITECH (UST), Republic of Korea. The projects focus on advanced scientific fields, including polymer science, adsorptive materials, green catalysis, electronic cooling systems, and renewable energy, among others.

The MoU signing and Talent Exchange launch ceremony not only signifies a pivotal step in VNUHCM-US’s global engagement strategy but also reaffirms the University’s stature as a distinguished academic and research partner within the international community.
