OPENING SESSION OF ASIIN INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION FOR EIGHT ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

On 28 May, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) held the official opening ceremony for the accreditation process under ASIIN standards.

The evaluation covers eight undergraduate programmes: Applied Mathematics, Mathematics and Computer Science, Data Science, Nuclear Engineering, Medical Physics, Electronic Physics Technology and Informatics, Materials Science, and Materials Technology. These programmes are regarded as flagship offerings of the University, characterised by a strong academic tradition and playing a pivotal role in advancing the institutional strategy for developing high-quality human resources in science and technology.

ASIIN expert panel engages in an open dialogue with the university’s executive board and departmental leaders.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Trần Lê Quan, President of the University, emphasised the crucial role these programmes play in the university’s overarching development strategy. He also reaffirmed a steadfast commitment to improving academic quality and promoting international integration.

ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) is a highly respected accreditation body within the European Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).

In Viet Nam, ASIIN is authorised to carry out accreditation for higher education institutions and academic programmes in mathematics, natural sciences, technology, and engineering. The quality certifications issued by ASIIN are internationally recognised as benchmarks for academic excellence in higher education.

From 28 to 29 May, the ASIIN panel will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the selected programmes, focusing on learning outcomes, curriculum structure, faculty expertise, infrastructure, quality assurance practices, and collaboration between the university, students, and industry partners.

Participation in the international accreditation process affirms the University of Science’s enduring commitment to continual improvement in education quality. The process strengthens academic credibility and creates a solid platform for students to pursue learning, research, and career opportunities in a global environment.
