The 4th University of Tsukuba – University of Science Joint Symposium in Biomedical Science 2025 was successfully held at VNUHCM-University of Science on 1st March 2025. This significant event marked an important milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the University of Tsukuba, Japan, and the VNUHCM-University of Science, which began in 2019. The symposium served as an excellent platform for young scientists to present their research, exchange innovative ideas, and foster academic collaboration in the field of Biomedical Science and its related disciplines.

Throughout the plenary sessions, the event showcased cutting-edge research on biotechnology, drug resistance, and the application of machine learning in gene data analysis. Notably, research on recombinant protein expression and fungal drug resistance in cancer treatment attracted significant interest from attendees.
A total of 29 poster presentations were displayed, representing contributions from a range of universities and research institutes, including the University of Tsukuba, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (which comprises the University of Science, International University, University of Technology, and University of Health Sciences), the University of Da Nang, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, HUTECH, among others.

Esteemed experts delivered keynote lectures, with prominent speakers including:
- Prof. Mamiko Sakata Yanagimoto (University of Tsukuba), who presented on the role of immune cells in tumours.
- Prof. Đặng Thị Phương Thảo (University of Science), who discussed the potential of Vietnamese medicinal plants in disease treatment.

At the award ceremony, 10 outstanding presentations were recognised from a total of 37 submissions, comprising 7 poster presentations and 3 oral presentations. Nguyễn Thùy Vy from International University (VNUHCM) was awarded the Best Poster Presentation for her research on curcumin-loaded egg protein capsules for oral inflammatory treatment. The Best Oral Presentation Award was given to Muhammad Fairuziko Nurrajab from the University of Tsukuba (Japan) for his study on the effects of adenosine A1 receptors in the brain and their impact on sleep.

Speaking at the event, Assistant Prof. Thomas Mayer, University of Tsukuba, expressed his impression on the overall quality of the symposium, the thorough preparation of the presentations, and the in-depth knowledge demonstrated by the Vietnamese students. He concluded by affirming that the cooperation between the two universities would continue to grow and strengthen in the future.

The 4th University of Tsukuba – University of Science Joint Symposium in Biomedical Science 2025 successfully fostered cooperation between the VNUHCM-University of Science and the University of Tsukuba, Japan, providing an opportunity for students and young scientists not only to share research and new ideas but also to engage in a vibrant academic environment. The event expanded collaborative relationships among universities nationwide, particularly in the southern region, enriching the conference atmosphere. The advanced research and outstanding presentations not only paved the way for new directions in Biomedical Science but also strengthened the partnership between the two universities, promising significant results in the future.
