On the morning of March 16^th, the Trade Union of the VNUHCM-University of Sciences, held the Congress of Trade Union Delegates for 2023-2028.

Attending and directing the Congress were: Comrade Lâm Tường Thoại – Chairman of the Trade Union of National University of Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), comrades in the Standing Committee, leaders of the specialized committees of the Trade Union of VNU-HCM; representatives of the leaders of the University’s Union.

On the side of the University of Science, VNU-HCM, there were: Comrade Trần Cao Vinh – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University’s Council, Former Chairman of the University’s Trade Union; Comrade Trần Lê Quan – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors. In particular, the Congress was attended by 150 delegates from the Trade Union sections, the Trade Union Group affiliated with the University.

 

At the Congress, the delegates heard presentations on the Summary report on Trade Union activities for the 2017-2022 term, Operation direction of the Trade Union for the term of 2023-2028, Review report of the Executive Board for the 2017-2022 term; Report on the results of the General Meeting and synthesize opinions of Trade Union members from the Trade Union divisions and the Trade Union Group under. During the 2017-2022 term, the Trade Union has achieved many significant results, with many innovations in methods and content, actively coordinating with the University in all activities, building a solid solidarity organization, and affirming the position and role of the Trade Union. In addition, the Executive Board of the Trade Union also seriously reviewed and evaluated the advantages and limitations in the management work to determine the causes and solutions to overcome and further improve the Trade Union activities.

 

The Congress also respectfully acknowledged many comments from leaders at all levels, Trade Union members for Trade Union activities, helping the Executive Board of the University’s Trade Union to take better care of Trade Union members.

 

At the Congress, Comrade Trần Cao Vinh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University’s Council affirmed the position and role of the Trade Union with three functions. Besides, Comrade Trần Cao Vinh also encouraged the spirit of the Trade Union staff and Union members, continuing to promote the role of a socio-political organization, contributing to the comprehensive development of the University.

 

Comrade Trần Lê Quan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, also affirmed the position and role of the Trade Union of the University of Science, VNU-HCM and hoped that the Trade Union staff and Union members would continue to make efforts to promote the role of a socio-political organization, contributing to the comprehensive development of the University. The University always accompanies and supports the activities of the Trade Union.

 

National University, Ho Chi Minh City, praised the achievements of the University’s Trade Union as well as the direction and close attention of the Party Committee of the University and made additional comments on the direction activities in the new term of the University in the next term.

With the spirit of working with high responsibility, focus, fairness and transparency, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Science, VNU-HCM, for the term of 2023 – 2028, including the following 13 members:

The Congress set out a direction to continue promoting the role of the Trade Union in the University in the term of 2023 – 2028; the Trade Union of the University of Science cooperates with the government to well implement the Directives and Resolutions of the University’s Party Committee, the University’s strategic plans and the resolutions of the upper-level Trade Union by practical actions with the slogan: “Autonomy – Solidarity – Reaching Out”.

The Executive Committee of the Trade Union for the term of 2023 – 2028 is determined to strengthen the promotion of unity and solidarity and strive to fulfil the tasks well in the direction that the Congress has unanimously approved, contributing to making the University more and more developed.
