On 6 June 2022, the VNUHCM-University of Science held its Internal Briefing Conference, attended by more than 100 officers, officials, and employees. During the Conference, the university honoured three new Associate Professors and newly appointed Management Officers from May and June 2022. The Conference also served as a forum for lecturers, officials, and staff from across the university to gather updated information and share ideas and suggestions for the university’s development.
Three New Associate Professors:
– Assoc. Prof. Cổ Thanh Thiện, Faculty of Chemistry;
– Assoc. Prof. Lê Viết Hải, Faculty of Materials Science and Technology;
– Assoc. Prof. Đặng Trường An, Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics.
The President presented the Appointment Decision to the Officials managing the various Faculties, Departments, Centres, and Laboratories.
Continuing the ceremony, M.Sc. Phan Ngô Hoang, Head of the Planning and Financial Affairs Office, summarised the contents of the university’s strategies for the period 2021–2025, highlighting effective solutions for 2022. Subsequently, Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan, President of the University, discussed the university’s finances and proposed suitable solutions for raising tuition fees. He explained the primary reason: “The increase in tuition fees is intended to compensate for the portion of the National Education Budget dedicated to recurrent expenditures and will only apply to the courses commencing in 2022. Furthermore, not all disciplines have experienced significant increases, which remain under limited bounds as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training. Although the number of basic science majors has risen, it has only done so moderately, and the university continues to provide additional support policies for learners in these fields.”
M.Sc. Phùng Quán, Head of the Personnel and Administrative Affairs Office, alongside Assoc. Prof. Trần Văn Mẫn, Head of the Science and Technology Office, reported on the numerous challenges faced and the solutions proposed to achieve the expected goals for organising the structure, personnel, and activities to promote scientific research. Leaders from all functional offices also expressed their hopes that lecturers, officials, and staff would collaborate and contribute ideas and solutions for the university.
“I welcome any viewpoints or suggestions from all lecturers, officials, and staff,” stated Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan.
