On the morning of 12 June 2023, Associate Professor Trần Lê Quan, President of VNUHCM-University of Science, along with a delegation from the Faculty of Chemistry, visited National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan.
The delegation received a warm welcome from Professor John Kao, President of National Tsing Hua University, alongside leaders from the College of Engineering, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, the Faculty of Material Sciences, and the Institute of Photonics Technology. During the meeting, Professor Kao expressed his fondness for Viet Nam, noting that he has visited the country on four occasions and admires both the people and natural beauty there, particularly the intelligence and enthusiasm of Vietnamese students. “This deep appreciation for our collaborative relationship with VNUHCM-University of Science is evidenced by the honour of being chosen by numerous generations of your students for their postgraduate studies,” remarked Professor Kao.
Following Professor Kao’s remarks, Associate Professor Quan conveyed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by National Tsing Hua University and acknowledged the contributions of former students currently studying at the institution. He articulated that the academic environment at Tsing Hua University represents a remarkable and aspirational setting for many students.
The signing ceremony to formalise the collaboration between VNUHCM-University of Science and National Tsing Hua University marks a significant step in their ongoing commitment to excellence and progress in training and research across both institutions’ specialised units in Chemistry. Associate Professor Quan expressed an optimistic outlook for the future of this cooperation, adding, “We anticipate engaging in discussions to further our collaboration in the fields of Materials Science and Photon Technology, with the aim of establishing a more comprehensive and fruitful partnership.”
Technical University at National Tsing Hua University, formalised their collaboration by signing a co-operation agreement. This agreement encompasses two primary objectives:
- VNUHCM-University of Science will facilitate the introduction of outstanding students to enrol in and conduct research within the Chemistry programmes at the Technical University.
- Successful candidates will receive mentorship primarily from faculty members at the Technical University, supplemented by guidance from lecturers at VNUHCM-University of Science. This collaborative approach ensures that students meet the academic standards and expectations of both institutions.
The delegation is set to continue their engagements over the next five days, which will include participation in scientific conferences and visits to prominent research laboratories. These visits will involve meetings with esteemed scientists at the Institute of Chemistry — Academia Sinica, as well as interactions with faculty members at National Tsing Hua University, National Central University, and National Chung Hsing University.
