At 8:00 a.m. on 5th October 2022, the Council of the VNUHCM-University of Science convened for its 9th session, the 1st course, at the Nguyen Van Cu Campus.
Attendees included:
– Members of the Council of the VNUHCM-University of Science (as per Resolution No. 19/NQ-HĐHQG dated 13th October 2020 from the National University Council Ho Chi Minh City).
– Members of the Supervisory Board of the University Council (according to Resolution No. 783/NQ-HDT dated 24th May 2022 from the VNUHCM-Council of the University of Science).
– Guest: Prof. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Mai, Vice President.
The meeting covered the following topics:
- A report on the results of the implementation of the Strategic Plan until October 2022 (Quarter 2 and Quarter 3).
- Approval of the Regulation on the Organisation and Operation of the Study Encouragement – Talent Encouragement Fund, VNUHCM-University of Science, and the appointment of the Fund Management Council.
- A report requesting policy changes regarding the organisation of the University apparatus:
– The reorganisation and merging of the Circuit Design Laboratory from the Department of Electronics, Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics.
– The reorganisation and merging of the Department of Quantitative Finance into the Department of Probability and Statistics.
– The renaming of the “Legal and Intellectual Property Inspection Division” to the “Inspection and Legal Department” and the transfer of Intellectual Property functions from the Legal – Intellectual Property Inspection Department to the Science and Technology Department.
- A report requesting policy on the establishment of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Science and the opening of the Faculty of Integrated Science for postgraduate education.
- A report requesting policy for the establishment of the Centre for Brand Development and Community Connection (HBC).
- A report on the activities of the Interim Representative Board of the Science Alumni Community.
- A report on the current financial situation and strategies for diversifying the University’s revenue sources.
The members of the University Council provided numerous perspectives to develop these matters further, as well as suggestions for policies, the organisational structure of the University, and financial orientation, all aimed at promoting the development of the University in the future.
