STUDENTS OF VNUHCM-UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE HONOURED WITH VIETNAMESE WOMEN’S SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AWARD

On 27th October, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, marked the 20th Anniversary of the Golden Globe Science and Technology Awards and the Vietnamese Women’s Science and Technology Award in Ha Noi.

Among the honourees were two students from VNUHCM-University of Science: Đỗ Thảo Anh (class of 2019, majoring in Materials Science and Technology) and Lê Phạm Nhật Quỳnh (class of 2020, majoring in Computer Science), who were awarded the 2023 Vietnamese Women’s Science and Technology Award for their outstanding achievements.

The Vietnamese Women’s Science and Technology Award, formerly known as the “Award for Outstanding Female Students in IT,” was established in 1997. This award is presented annually to recognise female students excelling in scientific and technological fields and who contribute to the advancement of Vietnam. The recognition underscores the importance of gender diversity in these sectors and the necessity to empower women to embark on careers in these domains.

In 2023, the Centre for the Development of Science, Technology, and Young Talent received 65 applications from 31 universities and academies nationwide across 12 disciplines as part of the award selection process, which was launched over three months.

The Award Organising Committee discovered that the female students competing for this year’s accolade presented impressive academic records, having published research articles and engaged in practical scientific research projects. Furthermore, they achieved top placements in startup and programming competitions and earned scholarships for both national and international study.
