On the morning of 11th October, a significant meeting and academic exchange took place between the University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and National Central University, Taiwan. This event provided a valuable opportunity for postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, and undergraduate students at the University of Science to learn about study and work programmes available in Taiwan.
The exchange unfolded in a lively atmosphere, characterised by the presence of numerous lecturers and students from both institutions. Representatives from each university introduced their organisational structures, training programmes, and research initiatives. This included an overview of the VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) and the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics, as well as the offerings from National Central University (NCU) and its Faculty of Earth Sciences.
Assoc. Prof. Võ Lương Hồng Phước provided an introduction of the Department of Oceanography, Meteorology, and Hydrology, highlighting the collaborative research activities that the department had been engaged in. Additionally, Prof. Chien Hwa from NCU shared the latest developments and applied techniques in Taiwan’s coastal radar network, as well as insights gained from offshore wind farm projects.
Notably, the meeting opened a forum for students to explore study programmes and career prospects in Taiwan, thereby facilitating the development of essential skills and knowledge within an international context.
The event not only imparted invaluable knowledge but also enhanced the potential for future research collaboration between the two institutions. The similarities in disciplines and research fields promised to establish a solid foundation for closer ties in the scientific and research domains of both parties.
The meeting concluded successfully, leaving a profound impression not only on the students and postgraduate candidates but also on the participating lecturers.
