On 17th August 2023, the VNUHCM-University of Science hosted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony with Viet Nam Petroleum Technical Services Joint Stock Corporation (PTSC) in the domains of scientific research, technology transfer, and the education and development of human resources.
The event was attended by Mr. Trần Hoài Nam, Deputy General Director of PTSC, along with members of the company’s leadership team. Representing the VNUHCM-University of Science were Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, Vice president, alongside leaders from the faculties of Chemistry, Geology, Electronics and Telecommunications, and Materials Science and Technology, as well as officials from the Foreign Relations Department and the Student Affairs Department.
As a key enterprise within the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam – PVN), PTSC is recognised as a leading provider of technical services within the oil and gas sector, as well as in the industries of renewable energy throughout the region. The corporation aspires to establish itself as a reputable international brand and a premier provider of comprehensive solutions in the energy sector, with a particular emphasis on offshore oil and gas operations.
At the signing ceremony, Associate Professor Trần Minh Triết from VNUHCM-US articulated that this agreement represents a significant milestone, heralding the commencement of extensive collaboration between the University and PTSC. This partnership is poised to facilitate long-term development and foster sustainability.
In the meeting, Mr Trần Hoài Nam, representing PTSC, emphasised the company’s substantial growth and the resulting increase in demand for skilled human resources. He expressed a keen interest in establishing partnerships with local universities, specifically targeting students who have completed their first year of study. Mr Nam noted that this stage is crucial as it allows students to gain a foundational understanding of their future profession while they are still in the process of deciding their career paths. He believes this creates an ideal opportunity for both PTSC and the students to engage in mutually beneficial explorations.
Furthermore, Mr Nam underscored PTSC’s commitment to the continuous development of its workforce. He highlighted the importance of retraining and upskilling existing employees to ensure they can adapt seamlessly to the evolving job roles within the organisation. This reflects the company’s proactive approach to meeting the challenges of a dynamic industry landscape.
