On 5th November, a meeting took place at the Nguyen Van Cu campus of the VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) with representatives from the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
The meeting was attended by distinguished guests from TSMC, including Professor Meng-Fan (Marvin) Chang, the Director of Corporate Research; Professor Ho-Hsien Chen, Counselor and Director of the Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City; and Ms. Trần Thanh Tâm, Associate and Synopsys Academic & Research Alliances (Viet Nam/HCM), along with Mr. Khúc Chí Bảo Minh, Executive Account Manager at Synopsys Viet Nam LLC.
Representatives from HCMUS included Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan, the President; Dr. Võ Hồng Hải, Deputy Head of the External Relations Office; along with leaders, leading representatives and lecturers from the Faculties of Electronics and Telecommunications, Materials Science and Technology, and Physics – Engineering Physics.
Professor Meng-Fan Chang, known as a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. With over ten years of experience in research and development in electronic circuits and technology, he had published more than 40 papers at prestigious conferences and held over 40 patents in the United States. He was also recognised as a Distinguished Lecturer and Fellow of IEEE.
During the meeting, Professor Chang passionately shared his valuable experiences and highlighted TSMC’s collaborative efforts with universities globally, emphasising the importance of fostering innovation through research and development activities while creating a vibrant learning environment for students. He particularly highlighted the TSMC’s demand for human resources in fields such as electrical engineering, physics, materials science, mechanics, computer science, and industrial engineering, which aligned perfectly with the training programmes at HCMUS. This opened new opportunities for students and helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the industry.
Notably, scholarship opportunities for HCMUS students in Taiwan, Germany, and Japan were also discussed, offering promising prospects for young individuals. Upon completing their studies, students could receive attractive career opportunities at TSMC, gaining comprehensive training and access to one of the world’s leading technology corporations.
The partnership between TSMC and HCMUS will set to yield long-lasting benefits for both parties while contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce for the high-tech industry.
