WELCOMING THE DELEGATION FROM THE OFFICE OF NAVAL RESEARCH

On 27th September, the University of Science, Viet Nam National University in Ho Chi Minh City, had the great honour of hosting a delegation from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) for a visit and working session at the Nguyen Van Cu campus in District 5. This event marked a significant step forward in the development of research collaboration between the two parties.

The ONR delegation comprised leading experts, including:
– Dr. Hoa G. Nguyen;
– Dr. Yujiro (Richard) Yamada, Senior Research Director.

From the University of Science, the welcoming representatives included:
– Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, Vice President;
– Dr. Võ Hồng Hải, Deputy Head of the Office of External Relations;
– Assoc. Prof. Trần Văn Mẫn, Head of the Office of Science and Technology;
– Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Văn Vũ, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology;
– Assoc. Prof. Trần Thị Thanh Vân, Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology;
– Along with various representatives from related faculties.

During the working session, both sides engaged in discussions about opportunities for collaboration in research as well as topics of interest to ONR. Notably, the ONR delegation introduced various funding programmes, which opened the possibility for collaborative projects in high-quality research in the future.

Moreover, the members of the ONR delegation had the chance to explore the University’s advanced laboratories, including SeLab, the Lab Server, the Robotic Lab, and the Applied Physical Chemistry Laboratory. This visit not only enhanced mutual understanding of each party’s facilities and research capabilities but also paved the way for rich collaborative opportunities in the future.

The working session concluded in a friendly and open atmosphere, laying the groundwork for promising prospects for collaboration, particularly in the development of joint projects. The highlight of this event underscored the University of Science’s strong commitment to enhancing international cooperation, particularly in the fields of scientific research and technology, which would contribute significantly to the sustainable development of both parties.
