MOU SIGNING CEREMONY BETWEEN VNUHCM-UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony, which formalised a cooperation agreement between VNUHCM-University of Science and the University of Tasmania (Australia), was held at the Nguyen Van Cu Campus on 24th November 2023.

This significant event primarily concerns the collaboration between the Department of Oceanography, Meteorology, and Hydrology within the Faculty of Physics — Engineering Physics at VNUHCM-University of Science and the University of Tasmania, Australia.

Notable Participants:

  • Mr Ciaran Chestnutt, Deputy Consul General of the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Dr Andrew Fischer from the University of Tasmania, Australia
  • Ms Helen McClure, Deputy Director of the International Department of Future Students, University of Tasmania, Australia
  • Ms Thủy Phan, Director of the Office in Vietnam, International Department of Future Students, University of Tasmania, Australia
  • Associate Professor Kameyama Sohiko from the University of Hokkaido, Japan
  • Nine students and graduates from the University of Tasmania, Australia

  • Teaching staff from the Department of Oceanography, Meteorology, and Hydrology
  • Twenty students majoring in Oceanography


Signing Agreement Content:

  1. Collaborate on research related to the ocean, environmental issues, shoreline changes, ocean-atmosphere interactions, and climate change.
  2. Provide training and education by organising short-term courses to enhance knowledge in ocean research technologies, including remote sensing (GIS), mathematical modelling, and field research skills.
