A seminar titled “Data & AI: Chances & Challenges: Study, Research, and Work in Europe” was held at the Nguyen Van Cu campus of the VNUHCM-University of Science. The event was co-organised by the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences, VNUHCM-University of Science, and VNDataScience on December 22.

The representatives from the VNUHCM-University of Science were Vice President Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, lecturers, and students. The speakers from VNDataScience included Ph.D. Trịnh Ngọc Trung, Admin of VNDataScience, Research Scientist of the Norwegian Scientific and Industrial Research Foundation (SINTEF), focusing on oil and gas data analysis; Prof. Đông Nguyễn, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, specialising in transportation and offshore renewable energy systems; and other speakers who participated online. VNDataScience is a non-profit organisation in Data science and AI with adept members, the majority of whom are studying and working in European countries.

The main topics covered at the seminar included:

• Careers in Data & AI; Essential competencies and qualities of learners;
• Preparation and training required to meet foreign markets;
• Methods of transferring to Data & AI;
• The needs of the European job market, education, and research of data & AI professions in European Institutes and Universities;
• Opportunities and challenges to study and work in Europe, document preparation, and necessary self-equipment.

Participants directly interacted, discussed and asked their questions to VNDataScience speakers. The speakers also shared their own stories about their journeys in Data & AI. The seminar was a success. The information provided will give the participants an in-depth and comprehensive view of the field of Data & AI.
