A seminar titled “Data & AI: Chances and Challenges – Study, Research, and Work in Europe” was held at the Nguyen Van Cu campus of VNUHCM-University of Science. The event was co-organised by the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences at VNUHCM-University of Science and VNDataScience on 22nd December.

Representatives from VNUHCM-University of Science included Vice President Assoc. Prof. Trần Minh Triết, various lecturers, and students. The speakers from VNDataScience comprised Dr. Trịnh Ngọc Trung, the Admin of VNDataScience and a Research Scientist at the Norwegian Scientific and Industrial Research Foundation (SINTEF), who focused on oil and gas data analysis; Prof. Đông Nguyễn from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, who specialised in transportation and offshore renewable energy systems; as well as other speakers who participated online. VNDataScience is a non-profit organisation in the field of data science and AI, with proficient members, the majority of whom are studying and working in European countries.

The main topics covered during the seminar included:

– Careers in Data & AI;

– Essential competencies and qualities of learners;

– Preparation and training required to meet foreign market demands;

– Methods of transitioning to Data & AI;

– The needs of the European job market, education, and research in data & AI professions within European institutes and universities;

– Opportunities and challenges associated with studying and working in Europe, including document preparation and necessary personal development.

Participants engaged directly with the speakers from VNDataScience, discussing various topics and asking questions. The speakers also shared their personal experiences related to their journeys in the field of Data & AI. Overall, the seminar proved to be a successful event, providing participants with an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the Data & AI landscape.
